Tartankleid

This bodice was planned for some time now and the wool waited for years to get sewed. It is a not perfect Rococo pattern with alternatively blue wool or green (fake) silk with damask ornaments. Underneath I'll make a colourfully embroidered stomacher.
The loops for the ribbon in the front are selfmade with yarn which fortunately worked out, is done quite fast an looks nice.

And finally I found pretty tartans!
First I made a long planned petticoat that fits for miscellaneous middle-class outfits, either with Renaissance or Rococo bumrolls. This bumroll underneath is new too and lots bigger than the one I wore at the shooting of the Outlander wedding dress - especially more at the buttocks! ;)
I attach you my pattern for the petticoats. I use my fabric's width as length. In the front the skirt has to be shorter and in the back longer because of the bumrolls. The broken line is the fabric upheaval but the red line is that one you cut. Then you sew the pieces together at the borders (not to the end, leave ~15cm open!), make the tunnells at the straight edges above and the hems.

And then I found this green-blue tartan...

My dear friend was enthused abouth this Outlander dress and insisted I could possibly make it for myself... Somehow soon after I took to it more and more and then this fabric came into my hands! But I'll make an Anglaise with open front so I can wear my stomacher I've told about above. For now it is only cut out.

The last 4 evenings passed with the light green tartan fabric. Every evening I'm watching the ski world championship on TV and during that I need something to do with my fingers that is not noisy and that I can do in my living room. So without further ado I got hold of my needle and hand-sew!
I've got some skill in hand-sewing yet I think for for 4 evenings I think I'm pretty far: The three folds on each side on the back are finished, one frontside is attached and the petticoat-part seamed.
In contrast to my other historical dresses I didn't make the buckram lining turned-over but sew it together with the outlining for if I need alterations in the size it will be easy and quick to adjust it. In this case the seam allowance is flapped sideways and sewn onto the lining.
I'm pretty much tempted to sew the dress alltogether by hand...! Around the bodice it will get some decorative frills naturally but I don't know which yet.

After seven evenings with 2-3 hours hand-sewing I've nearly finished the tartan dress. On the back I have to make another pleat on each side for the dress is a bit to big yet, then there are only the fabrics on the sleeves and the decoration left.

The inner part: You can see the stiches and the middle seam for adjusting the inlay if outside something is altered.

Mittlerweile ist auch die Dekoration fertig. 4,5 Meter (!)

In the meantime I've finished the decoration too. 4.5 meters (!) satin ribbon were needed, it was easy to make but time-consuming. Here how to do it: First you make box pleats with square spaces then you sew these pleats also together.

Und so sieht es jetzt fertig aus:
And this does it look finished:
