10. 5. 2018: Ich bin kürzlich über ein Bild gestolpert, bei dem ich nicht Nein zur Umsetzung sagen konnte... Zum Glück passt es bestens in die Zeit- und Ortsgrenze meiner Reenactment-Gruppe, der Myrmidonen. Besagtes Bild zeigt den Sarkophag einer etruskischen Dame aus Chiusi um 150-120 v. Chr. (heute in Karlsruhe), also etwas ganz spätes.
May, 10th 2018: Shortly I stumbled over a picture I couldn't say No to its realisation... Forntunately it fits perfectly into the time and place borders of my Reenactment group, the Myrmidones. Said picture shows a sarcophagus of an Etruscan lady from Chiusi from 150-120 BC. (today in Karlsruhe), so quite late.
Für das Kleid hatte ich den perfekten Stoff daheim: ein dünnes Leinen mit ein bisschen eingewebten Tweed-artigen Einschlüssen. Ich habe ihn violett gefärbt, weil das Weiß vom Original ist mir zu sehr Klischee und das Beige vom Stoff war mir zu langweilig. Vielleicht mache ich noch eines aus einem hellen Stoff.
Der Stoff war mir ein bisschen zu kurz, also fügte ich einen Streifen kirschrotes Leinen dazu, wie man es auch auf manchen Originalen sieht. Natürlich wurde alles mit der Hand genäht, mit weißem Leinengarn.
Als Band unter der Brust werde ich eine kirschrote Kordel nutzen, aber als das Foto zustande kam, hatte ich sie noch nicht.
For the dress I had the perfect fabric: A thin linen with a bit of tweed-looking dark wool and other particles woven into it. I dyed it violet for the white of the original and the camel of the fabric was too cliché and dull for me. Maybe I'll make another one in a light colour too.
The fabric was a bit too short so I added the cherry-red ribbon of linen. Such thing is seen sometimes on the originals too. Of course all is hand-sewn, with white linen thread.
As ribbon under the bust I'll use a cherry-red cord but when I took the photo I had none yet.
Der Schmuck - The jewelry:
Da ich so viel wie möglich davon selbst machen möchte, wich ich für die Kette auf eine andere Dame aus. Der Sarkophag der Seianti Hanunia Tlesnasa stammt ebenfalls aus Chiusi aus der Zeit um 150-140 v. Chr. Zufälligerweise fand ich auf Anhieb passende Teile im lokalen Bastelgeschäft. Statt aus Gold ist sie aus Messing.
Die anderen Stücke sind noch nicht in Produktion gegangen.
As I want to make as much as possible myself I changed for the necklace to another lady. The sarcophagus of Seianti Hanunia Tlesnasa is from Chiusi too and dates around 150-140 BC. By chance I found fitting parts at once in my local handicraft shop. Instead of gold they are of brass.
The other pieces are not in production yet.
7. 8. 2020: Endlich habe ich auch Bilder bekommen, die das Kleid im getragenen Zustand zeigen. Zudem habe ich eine Tebenna aus roter Wolle gemacht: das ist ein halbrundes Kleidungsstück ähnlich einer römischen Toga, die in mehreren Varianten um den Körper drapiert oder gewickelt werden kann.
August, 7th, 2020: Finally I got pictures how the dress looks when worn. In adition I made a tebenna of red wool: this is a half round cloak similar to a Roman toga that was draped or wrapped around the body in several ways.
Noch fehlend: Der eigentliche Kopfschmuck muss noch poliert werden; Schuhe
Still missing: The fitting hair jewelry has to be polished yet; shoes
