Justeaucorps

Justeaucorps, also den Mantel, gemacht.

For the clothing of my best friend for the Venetian mask ball at the end of the month I made the vest already. These days I made the justeaucorps, the coat. I was quite afraid of it.

The future owner chose the fabric, a black cotton for lining and a thin really dark red wool with herringbone pattern, a really wunderful cloth. A broad golden lace is added for some bling. The pattern is not something particular: we had no specific model and because no historical correctness was needed I would say we turned out something around 1860.
After a long time of tailoring the sewing was longer. The cuffs and lace took me a whole evening. Now only the pockets are still missing which I've already sewn. Ouf!
The petticoat is of course no part of the ensemble ;) The kerchief is made of silk and will be painted sometimes for my Elves. The tricorn of my father will get some nice decoration. Don't wonder, the dress form doesn't fit for men's clothing...
