Da ich nun einen Stecker habe, aber nur ein Korsett mit etwas empfindlichem Überstoff, muss ein zweites her!
Den Schnitt habe ich noch vom ersten Korsett, danach wird es auch wieder gerichtet. Diesmal soll es auch Träger bekommen. Hier der Schnitt vom Futterstoff:

The pattern is still from the first corset that will be my guide. This time it should get shoulder staps. Here the pattern of the lining fabric:
Diesmal habe ich eine andere Art des Nähens versucht. Zuerst habe ich die einzelnen Teile ausgeschnitten und bis auf den einen Außenstoff zusammengenäht. Der olivgrüne Stoff soll die Stäbchentunnel zeigen, der blaue mit dem gelben Blumenmuster jedoch nicht. Also kommt der nach den Tunneln drauf. Die Tunnel werden durch beide Lagen Futter und olivgrüner Seite genäht.
This time I try another type of sewing process. First I cut the pieces and sewed everything together except the one outer fabric. The olive green one should show the bone channels but the blue one with yellow flowers not. So this one will be attached after the channels been sewn. The channels are sewn through both layers of lining and the olive green layer.
Nach Wochen habe ich endlich passendes Stahlband gefunden und bestellt. Es ist eine Schande, dass es das nirgends in Österreich mehr zu kaufen gibt! Und wenn doch, lasst es mich bitte wissen!
Das Band habe ich mit der Blechschere geschnitten und die Kanten mit Isolierband entschärft. Es endet jeweils etwa 1 cm vor dem Saum. Die Bänder sind nun eingezogen und die Teile zusammengenäht. Nun kann man probieren, ob der Schnitt wirklich so passt oder noch geändert werden muss.
After weeks I've finally found steel boning and ordered it. It's a shame that it is not any more available in shops throughout Austria! Or if you know one please let me know!
I cut the steel with tin snips and disarmed the edges with rubber tape. It ends each 1 cm before the seams. The boning is inserted now and the pieces sewn together. Now you can test the pattern and look if something has to be adjusted.
Die zweite Außenseite bzw. die Vorderseite wird nun gut darauf festgesteckt, mit Nadeln besser nicht sparen.
Als Einfassung dient ein Baumwoll-Köperband, das wesentlich einfacher zu handhaben ist als Schrägband (und auch historischer ist). Wieder nicht sparen mit Nadeln. Ich habe ein etwa 1 cm breites Band benutzt, alles weniger ist sehr schmal für die doch manchmal unpassenden Kanten und alles breitere ist unpraktisch und sieht seltsam aus. Mit Überwendlingstich wird das Band Seite für Seite angenäht, in meinem Fall etwa alle 2 mm ein Stich. Eine Heidenarbeit, die eine halbe Ewigkeit dauert, aber ich denke, es zahlt sich aus!
The second outer fabric resp. the front side is attached now with needles, and don't save them in use!
The border is a cotton twill ribbon which is much easier to use than bias tape (and historically correct). Again don't save needles. I used an about 1 cm broad ribbon, everything narrower will be very narrow for the sometimes uneven edges and everything more will be impractical and looks queer. With overedge stich the ribbon gets sewn to the fabric side after side, in my case every 2 mm a stich. A hell of a work but I think it is worth it!

Als letztes werden die Nestellöcher gemacht. Neben dem Köperband werden entlang hinunter Löcher gestochen, möglichst ohne das Gewebe selbst zu zerstören (eine Beinahle funktioniert am besten). Für die Nestellöcher selbst gibt es gute Anleitungen, zB. hier. Eine Z-Schnürung (im Gegensatz zur späteren X-Schnürung, die heute immer verwendet wird) ist historisch, dazu das zweite Loch von oben und unten in den halben Lochabstand setzen (siehe Bild)! Sonst verzieht sich das Korsett beim Anziehen!
At last you make the holes for the lacing. Alongsinde the twill ribbon you prick holes, as much as possible without distroying the texture itself (a bone awl works best). For the sewing of the holes there exist a number of good instructions, ie. here. A Z lacing (in the contrary to the X lacing that is used today) is historically correct, for that you must set the second hole from above and below in the half hole distance (see on the picture)! Else the corset will pucker when wearing!
