Gwaloths Winterkleid WIP

I'm going to a Con in the end of November and because it's supposed to get cold and rainy this time of year I need something warm and particularly waterproof. My old cloak is a bit too uncomfortable for it and somehow I dream of a light-coloured one for a long time now. Yesterday evening the pattern got into my head and I couldn't help but buy fabrics today and begin it.

The goal:
A mantle-dress made of off-white wool, wide sleeves and white fur trimmings (artificial fur) on the sleeve hemlines, the upper part with decorations - likely small white crocheted flowers in the pattern of my Celefindel flower. Then I'll embroider it with some beads or pearls, let's see what it will become in the end.

First I created my pattern and cutted the lining. The lining is just in the upper part, I don't need lining in the skirt. Now I can adjust the pattern by pinning it together and wearing it with something thicker under it.

Today I proceeded with the dress itself. The same pattern, only long, with a lot of hem. The lower part of the sleeves is lined with embroidered chiffon with which I'd like to line the hood which shall be adjustable with buttons. The fur trim shall coat the transition of wool and chiffon.

Then I made the buttonholes. It is easier to make them before sewing the heavy long sleeves onto it. Also I adjusted the seam.

The closure - Die Verschlüsse

Applying the fur trim was easier than I thought: You just have to lessen the thread tension and sew a bit slower.
The single strips of fur I'll sew together by hand and there are the closings still missing too. My boyfriend had crocheted in the meantime the many white small flowers that will decorate the upper part.

Now two dozen flowers are sewed on and embroidered. On each flower are five beads. Half a dozen flowers will follow for the shoulders and maybe some more for the following hood...
