Ich habe einen türkisblau-rötlich changierenden Fischgratleinen gefunden, der unbedingt ein Kleid werden wollte. Schon im Geschäft fiel mir dieses erhaltene Kleid von der Mitte des 16. Jh. aus Florenz(?) ein. Zudem wollte ich ein zweites und einfacheres Kleid als Alternative zu meinem roten Sofonisba-Kleid, wenn ich einmal länger als zwei Tage auf einem Reenactment bin, oder das rote zu schön ist. Ein Arbeitskleid praktisch.
I found a turquoise-blue and reddish chatoyant herringbone linen fabric that needed to become a dress. Already in the shop this extant dress from the middle of the 16th century of Florence(?) came to my mind. For some time I wanted to make a second and simpler dress as alternative to my red Sofonisba dress if I'm going to a reenactment for more than two days or if the red one is too pretty. A working dress practically.
Für die Rückseite habe ich einige Darstellungen von Arbeiterfrauen der Zeit studiert und da ich keine Frontöffnung wollte, habe ich mich für zwei Schnürungen seitlich hinten entschieden, die in dem Fall fast immer verwendet wurden. Es ist etwas ungewohnt, die Tascheneingriffe so weit hinten zu haben, aber am zweiten Tag habe ich mich bereits daran gewöhnt. Die weiten Ausschnitte stören gar nicht, da darunter ja noch ein Haufen Unterhemd (camicia) ist.
Ich habe den Schnitt so gemacht, dass ich notfalls noch ein bisschen abnehmen, aber auch zunehmen kann. Wenn es ganz eng geschnürt wird, stehen die Säume zusammen. Wir waren da auf einem Picknick, daher wollte ich es natürlich nicht ganz eng ;)
Auf dem Bild sieht man auch schön, welchen Stand der Rock hat, obwohl er nur eine Schicht Leinen ist!
For the back I looked at some depictions of working class women of the time and because I didn't want to have a front opening I chose the two back side lacings which seems to be the second most lacing type for working women. It was a bit unfamiliar to have the pocket openings that much backwards but on the second day I got quite used to it. The slits are no problem for there is a bunch of undershirt (camicia) beneath.
I made the pattern in this way that I can loose a bit of weight as well as gain a bit. If it is tightly closed the seams are together. We were on a picnic here so I didn't want it that tight ;)
You see on the picture very well how the stiffer fabic falls as petticoat and it is just one layer of linen!
Der Oberkörper wurde mit einer Schicht Hausleinen und einer Schicht Baumwolle (ich habe so viele alte Bettücher dafür!) in Padstiching-Technik versteift. Das reicht, um eine schöne Form zu bekommen und alles zu halten, verhindert aber nicht, dass durch Sitzen oder Bücken Falten unter der Brust und am Bauch entstehen.
Ich bin kein großer Freund von sehr hohen Ausschnitten, daher habe ich den Mittelweg zwischen florentinischem Original und anderen Darstellungen aus der Zeit gewählt.
The bodice is lined with a layer of stiff house linen and a layer of cotton (I have so much old bed sheets for this!) and padstiched for stability. This is enough to get a beautiful shape and keep everything in place but doesn't avoid getting creases under the bust and on the belly from sitting and stooping.
I'm no big fan of very high necklines so I chose the middle between the Florentine original and other depictions of the time.
Ich habe diesen tollen alten Strohhut aus einem Nachlass bekommen - genau so einer ist auch auf einer Abbildung zu finden! :D Ich reiche das Bild nach, wenn ich es wieder finde!
Das Doublet ist das älteste historische Stück, das ich noch habe, und wird bald ersetzt.
I got this fantastic old straw hat from a legacy - exactly such one is shown in a painting! :D I show it to you as soon as I find it again!
The doublet is my oldest historical thing I still have and will be replaced soon.
